Drinking glass (maybe one for each person)
Water
1 teaspoon of baking soda (per glass)
Some sugar for sweetening

Alma 32:4-16

Ask: What is special about the people Alma is teaching?
Read: Alma 32:4
Answer: They are poor in heart.

Give each person a glass and a lemon cut in half. Have each person squeeze the juice of the lemon into the glass. The lemon juice represents how the people feel.

Read these verses while the lemon juice is being squeezed into the glasses:
Alma 32:5 and 12

The people feel like they are sour and cast out from the other people.

But how does Alma see them?
Read: Alma 32:6-7
Answer: Alms knows that they are prepared to hear the gospel because of their humility (they are poor in heart).

Pour equal amounts of water as lemon juice into each glass. This represents the people being taught the gospel.

What do the people need to do after hearing the gospel?
Read: Alma 32:13
Answer: They need to repent.

Add some sugar to the glass and stir. Now the liquid should taste like lemonade. God takes sorrow and humility and turns it into something sweet and wonderful.

Ask: What about us? How can we be humble?
Read: Alma 32:16
Answer: Those who are not compelled to be humble are blessed even more.

Add the baking soda to the lemonade. This will make the drink fizzy like soda.

Remember that we can choose to be humble and make the lemons in our life turn into lemon soda as we learn and live the gospel.
